What is the easiest way to clean my windows?

Most people today are looking for the easiest solution to household tasks, such as cleaning windows. An important factor to consider when purchasing windows, therefore, is the ease of cleaning. Getting on a ladder to reach second-story windows is both annoying and dangerous.
Today many windows are available with features that allow them to be cleaned from the inside of the house. Whether we’re talking about a double hung window or a casement window, manufacturers have designed innovative ways to keep you off a ladder.
Many double hung windows are now available with a one-handed tilt mechanism that allows an individual to open and tilt the window sash with one hand. A tilt latch is simply added to the sash lock and can be engaged once the window is raised a few inches. A similar mechanism is also available on the top sash, allowing it to be lowered and tilted as well.
Until recently, casement or crank-out windows presented a problem as far as cleaning goes. Older casement windows were designed with an offset pivot that created a narrow gap by which to reach the exterior of the glass. This design presented problems in that you could really only try to reach the glass with some sort of long-armed cleaning device. Newer casement windows, however, are designed with a wash mode that allows the window to expose the exterior surface to the interior of the house. Once the window is extended to 90 degrees, an individual can pull the sash toward the open side, basically flipping the entire window sash inside out and allowing cleaning of the exterior glass surface.
With the innovations in both double hung and casement windows today, there is really no need to purchase a window that would require a cleaning company, much less a ladder, to get the job done.
