A Word of Caution…

Posted on 08. Sep, 2011 by admin in New Construction

We sure live in precarious times. Everyone has to watch their budget- no matter what their status. For those who are looking to build a new home or remodel or even maintenance their current home CAUTION is the word. I cannot tell you how many times I hear fellow builders talk about getting under bid- I mean SERIOUSLY under bid when they know that there is absolutely no way (I don’t care where you get your materials from) that anyone could build, remodel, etc. for what folks are getting quoted. These “False Bids” are something to look out for. It’s tragic- for both the homeowner and reputable builders.

I understand getting bids- it’s a good idea. I’m here to tell you something- the lowest bid is rarely the winner- at least when the project is done. Be careful who and HOW you choose. I know times are tight- we’re all there. I encourage you to look for someone who #1- has a history of happy clients (because you want to be one of them), #2- has a vast knowledge & experience in their field (they have been around this long for a reason), and #3- someone competitive. Competitive is good and we should all watch where our money is going. However, it always cost more to do the work a second time. Use CAUTION- not everyone is as honest as you are.
